Fr. Bobby Vogel is my name, and yes, my name is actually ”Bobby” and not “Robert.” I come from the southern part of Indiana, from a humble wooded borough of North Vernon, about an hour south of Indy. My family has resided in Jennings County since about the 1850’s from whence my family arrived in these United States from Germany. The Vogel clan is an ample-sized and varied family composed of many farmers and numerous other professions. I received the greatest patrimony of all, that of being reared by a loving family who incorporated me into the body of Christ and demonstrated by example how to live in right relationship with God and each other in the Church that was founded by the Godman some two-thousand years ago. In my spare time I enjoy hiking in nature (trails, beaches, mountains, etc.), exploring new places and sights (e.g., Spain, Italy, Peru, Mexico, Malaysia, South Korea), hanging out with friends and making new friends over a meal at a restaurant or home cooked followed by a nice digestive (e.g., bourbon, rye whisky, scotch, mezcal, spiced rum, dry red wines, dark beers) and a nice cigar. I have been known to dabble in brewing beer, slacklining (it’s like a tightrope), baking scones & bread, collecting (and sometimes reading) books of various topics, watching and critiquing movies, cheering for our local USL team (i.e., Indy Eleven), dabbling in some wood carving, and book binding. I look forward to meeting you all and making fast friends here.
